Director, Visual Effects Supervisor
ALADINO DEBERT
Welcome to my site, where you’ll find recent work, archives, news, ways to contact me, etc. You can download a copy of my resume here.
I’m a Visual Effects Supervisor, writer, director, and new Executive Creative Director at Zoic Studios. I create, I direct, I run shows, I supervise teams. I love working on innovative projects, for any medium. After spending fifteen incredible years at Digital Domain, I’m thrilled for this new chapter in my career.
At Zoic, I wear multiple hats, overseeing our creative output, and diving into projects as both a Visual Effects Supervisor and Director. It’s a role that perfectly aligns with my passion for crafting immersive and visually stunning experiences.
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and although I had always thought I’d pursue a career in Architecture (I actually studied it for two years in Buenos Aires), after my move to New York City, I attended Pratt Institute and got a Computer Graphics Degree. Having always been a fan of Sci-Fi-laden films and books, I steadily moved towards visual effects instead, and like so many others in the industry, eventually found myself moving to Los Angeles to work in film.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate enough to receive recognition for my work, including Clios, Emmys, Tellys, HPA, AICPs, and VES awards and nominations. My expertise lies in crafting captivating long-form visual effects in entertainment, whether it’s for feature films or episodic series.
Over the years I’ve worked in some amazing places such as Metrolight Studios, VisionArt, Radium/ReelFX and Digital Domain in roles such as CG Generalist, CG Supervisor, Head of CG, Visual Effects Supervisor and eventually Director.
Before making the move to Zoic in 2024, I had the privilege of working on some truly exciting projects. From Marvel’s “Echo” and “Ms. Marvel”, Netflix’s “Lost in Space” and “Lemony Snicket” to the Amazon series “Carnival Row” and “Citadel“. I’ve been involved in projects that have pushed boundaries and earned acclaim. Additionally, my journey in the industry has seen me work on beloved shows like “Black Sails” and “Outlander”.
But it’s not just about supervising visual effects for me. I also love getting behind the camera as a director, creating trailers and launch pieces for high-profile clients like Sucker Punch and their game “Ghost of Tsushima,” which garnered accolades like Clio and Telly Awards, as well as the U.S. Air Force’s latest recruiting pieces.
In addition to gaming, I’ve collaborated with a range of clients, from Nike to Audi to BMW, bringing our collective creative vision to life in commercial pieces that resonate with audiences. Other clients include Gearbox, Microsoft, Treyarch, Bungie, Pepsi, Cisco Systems and Meta.
But what truly drives me is my passion for perfection and collaboration. In a world besieged by technological changes, I believe in bringing together diverse talents to create something truly special.
I hope you enjoy my site, and please feel free to contact me with any feedback, comments or if you have any project we could help you with.
Peace, Aladino.
